The Pressures of Purpose Part 2

Posted in Energy on February 13, 2008 by Chris

This past weekend, I went to a “party with a purpose” with Dr. Robinson for the purpose of raising funds for a young lady who had lost her home to a fire.  Hearing her story conjured up images and emotions from my experience in losing my home to a fire some six years ago.  I can still see the images of the fire taunting my bedroom window as I looked out.  I can still feel the numbness that I felt during that moment.   I can still feel the adrenaline rush I felt as I woke up my roommates and escaped the apartment.  Can you imagine waking up one day and having your home and all of your belongings (clothing, jewelry, photos, keepsakes, etc) extinguished from your life.   It is so easy to lose focus due to the trauma of such an experience. However, God uses tradegies such as fires, a lose of a loved one, broken relationships, and other sudden crises to cause you to refocus.   This is the second key to pressing through the pressures of purpose.

Refocus by reviewing your vision- The tradegies of your life tend to cause you lose sight of the vision that God has shown you.  The turbulence in these storms causes your life to become distracted, disorganized, displaced—things get out of order.  However, there is an eye in the center of every storm.  In the eye contains the highest concentration of energy and tranquility within the storm.  In this eye, you can capture an abundance of anointing (“the ability to do”) for your purpose.

Talk to God about your vision.  Review your vision, business, or ministry plan. Interact with others who will encourage your vision. You will be refocused and rejuvenated.

I thank God for that fire.  It was a turning point in my life.  It actually propelled me to finish two degrees in 18 months, pursue a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering , and grow closer to God.

Your Prophetic Image

As I was standing outside of a church I visited yesterday evening, the lead musician walks by me, turns, and looks at me as if he’s seen a ghost.  I think to myself, “What in the world did he just see?”  His look made me uncomfortable.  Then, as if I am some diplomat or celebrity, he lunges toward me to shake my hand and introduce himself.  Still astonished by his look and now by his actions, I shake his hand without catching his name.  He then walks away announcing to everyone within an earshot, “That is a pastor or teacher right there.  Yep, it is all over him.  That is a pastor or teacher right there.”  Now, my musical friend has made a seen.  The small crowd turns to look me, the proclaimed pastor/teacher.  Now, I am embarrassed.   My discomfort is due to the truth; they are not seeing my image, but the image of God–a prophetic image.

Recall Genesis 1:26, “Let Us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock , over all the earth, and all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Do you have eyes to see your prophetic image?  Do the people closes to you see your prophetic image? Your prophetic image is the image that God created you to be.  Your prophetic image is the yet to be manifested destiny of what God has called you to be.

What do you see when you look in the mirror?  Do you see your past failures, mistakes, or shortcomings?  Do you see the lies the devil has told you? Or do you see the truth of what God has called you to be?

You are more than a conqueror.  You are blessed and highly favored of the Lord.  You are fearfully and wonderfully made.  All power in heaven have been given to you.  You have power over all diseases, sickness, poisoness snakes, and death.  Do you know your prophetic image?

You have the power of life and death in your tongue.  You have the power to speak those things which are not as though they were.  You have the power to say, “Let there be (you fill in the blank).” And it shall be.  You have the power to call light out of darkness.  You have power to speak death to relationships holding you in bondage.  You have power to speak life to your dream.  My goodness, do you know your prophetic image?

You have power to manifest the destiny God has stored in you. You are supernatually filled with a power to do what God has called you to do.  Again, I ask you. Do you know your prophetic image?  Stop believing the lies that satan has whisphered to you.  Who said you cannot have that house that you’ve been dreaming of?  Who said you cannot have that marriage that you’ve been dreaming of? Who said you cannot have that career you’ve been dreaming of? Who said you cannot have the body you’ve been dreaming of?  Who said you are not able to have the children God has promised you?  The devil is a liar!  Stop believing those lies!

When God has given you a vision, its image will look like a lie to you.  Reason being is that image in your mind will seem so unreal, so far off, and beyond your wildest imagination, that your mind cannot comprehend it and declare it a lie.  Now, that is a God dream.  Do you have a good dream or a God dream?  A good dream is based on your sight.  Your sight speaks to your current situation and what you have right now which may be in contrast to your prophetic image.  A God dream is based upon faith.  I am talking about the faith which is substanced of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen.  Faith speaks to your prophetic image–your soon-to-be manifested destiny.

You may be wondering by now, ”how do I become my prophetic image?”  It is very simple, become faith.  Do you realize faith is a verb? It comes from a greek verb meaning to convince, persuade, obey, and make friend. Let me say that again, faith is a verb and thus requires action.

You must make friends with your prophetic image by exercising F.A.I.T.H. That is Focusing All Intentions Toward Him.  When you give all of your intentions or desires to God, you begin to delight yourself in the Lord.  You become pliable in His hand and He begins to shape you into your prophetic image.  This is the heart of Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

As you are being formed into your prophetic image, without knowing it, you have begun winning the fight for your dream. Become your prophetic image.

 Keep fighting for your dream!
