The Pressures of Purpose Part 1
Hello Dreamers! It has been a few months. I have fallen off of the blogger world. In short, I have been “going through some things.” Between a PhD, businesses, ministries, and a relationship, I felt pressures of purpose like never before. There were moments when I felt my dreams had died. Through it all, God has done a work in me. My vision has been restored and God is resurrecting me into a man that this world has never seen the likes of. I say that with confidence in Him, His promises, and His power. With that said, I want to share five keys with you over the next five or more entries about, “The Pressures of Purpose.” Enjoy today’s introduction and first key.
8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.
2 Corinthians 4:8-11 (NIV)
There are times in your walk that the pressures of your purpose seem unbearable. In these dark moments, the light at the end of the tunnel grows faint. The mounting challenges beat you down almost to the point of submission. Hopelessness and despair begin to creep at your door. At this low point, you wonder if God has abandoned you. Friends, if you are feeling this way, know that you are not alone. Many have been there, including Jesus, and have pressed through to a higher level of glory. During this season, you must learn to P.R.E.S.S. through. Here are five keys to pressing through the pressures of purpose.
Key#1:Prioritize through the application of God’s wisdom-
When God is molding you into the shape for your purpose, he does so like a blacksmith shaping metal. Like metal, you are best shaped when heat and pressure is applied to you. The circumstances of your life are God’s heat and pressure; wisdom is His hammer. Seek God’s wisdom through prayer, His word (e.g. Ch. 3 and Ch. 8 of Proverbs), and wise counsel (e.g. Parents, elders of your church, etc). In doing so, wisdom will cause your priorities to change. Organize and schedule your priorities in both the short term and long term.
